Episode 2

The Floor is Lava (Nowhere is Safe)

A survivor recounts a harrowing childhood marked by abuse from their stepfather, Keith, and uncle, James, while their mother, aware of the abuse, did nothing to stop it. This led the survivor to live in fear and develop lasting psychological scars and PTSD, impacting their adult relationships. Although they eventually escaped, the emotional turmoil persisted. Motherhood offered solace and motivated the survivor to confront their past to protect their own children, even as the legal system provided little support. The story highlights the crucial need to break the silence surrounding abuse to prevent further victimization and encourage vital discourse.
