Episode 4

Teenage Wildlife

Narrated by Sam Mostyn this story follows a young woman who at five years old was sexually abused by a trusted neighbor’s son, threatened into silence with the lie that her adoptive parents would reject her if she spoke. The trauma led to years of self-destruction—street life, heroin, brothels, and violence. Salvation came through rock climbing, rehab, and finally, therapy where she disclosed her abuse. Though she took her abuser to court in the 1990s, he faced no consequences. Now 55, she’s alive when many she loved are not. With raw honesty, she rejects pity and issues a challenge: Why do we accept a world where children are betrayed in plain sight? Her story is one of hard-won healing—and a demand for change.
