Episode 3

Voiceless

At seven, during a seemingly ordinary breakfast at her aunt and uncle’s artisan cottage, Beau was left behind while her cousins went out—lured by the promise of seeing her favorite horse. Instead, her uncle, the blacksmith Bert, led her to the stables and sexually assaulted her. Frozen in terror, she dissociated, returning to the house numb and sore, her young cousins innocently blaming “soap” for her tears. For 40 years, the memory stayed buried—until, during a film reading about child abuse, something cracked open. That night, a primal scream tore from her body, releasing a flood of repressed trauma: the taste, the smell, the violation. In that cathartic eruption, her adult self finally met the terrified child—and began to heal. A haunting testament to how the mind protects us until we’re ready to face the truth.
