Episode 7

Not Too Young To Remember

Kay’s story begins in chaos—a childhood marked by neglect, weed-smoking at the breakfast table, and abuse that started at age four at the hands of her oldest brother. When her uncle moved in after prison, the grooming turned to rape, and again, no one intervened—no doctor, no police, just silence wrapped in denial. But Kay didn’t stay silent for long.

Fiercely intelligent, autistic, and forged in survival, she exploded—not just on the football field (ending her athletic dreams), but against a system that failed her. Years later, she made a bold choice: report her uncle to protect other children, leading to his arrest and imprisonment. Yet justice was twisted when he was released early after being bashed in jail—by her own brother. Now a mother and paramedic student, Kay parents with radical honesty, teaching her daughters the words “vagina,” not “Mimi,” and trusting no one—not even family—with their safety. Raw, profane, and unapologetically real, her story isn’t about victimhood—it’s a battle cry: Stop pretending. See your kids. Speak plainly. And for God’s sake—get your head out of your ass.
